Destilería La Caravedo, established in 1684, produces Caravedo Puro Quebranta, a Peruvian pisco made from quebranta grapes. It is single-distilled to 40% ABV using alambique copper pot stills, with approximately 3 kilos of grapes required per 750ml bottle. The spirit is rested for at least six months in stainless steel without any additives, including water, sugar or wood flavoring.
On the palate, coconut dominates the flavor profile, which is rounded out with vanilla, fleeting fruit juiciness at the back of the palate, and a prickle of clove and cinnamon heat on the finish.
The aroma is clean and clear with a summer salad of pears and grapes (with the skins), edible flowers, and microgreens. These flavors continue as you taste with just enough of a sweetness and oiliness to help cushion the brandy on your palate.
