Distilled in 2008 and aged for 12 years, this selection by Marion Dauner of Vinocopia (an American distributor) was produced by Bunnahabhain and bottled by Signatory Vintage in 2020. Maturation took place entirely in a first fill Sherry wine hogshead (#1157), and while it was diluted to 46% ABV, it remains uncolored and unfiltered.

Sweet cream on the nose, peach cobbler, stone fruit, a bit of pepper, a hint of minerality. Bright, fruity, cream and inviting. Good complexity.
Moderate mouthfeel, surprisingly syrupy for the proof. Lots of peach plum, vanilla bean, a bit of berry. There's less minerality on the palate than the nose, quite a bit of currant and peach cobbler.
Long finish. Probably my favorite part - where it all comes together. Jammy, sweet, a bit of oak and minerallity remain to keep things in check. First time the oak is really apparent, blending those desserty peach and dessert notes nicely with tannin and a bit of Islay character.
People really enjoy panning these 46% UCF releases, but I still think they're always worth investigating, especially if they feature a cask type and distiller that interests you. If anyone knows me, the combination of Bunnahabhain and Sherry wine is a personal favorite, and this bottle surely did not disappoint.
