12 Years
Bulleit's 12-year-old rye was first introduced in 2019 and became a fixture in the whiskey community as a beloved value rye. Sadly, once the original stock sold out, the whiskey was discontinued. Luckily for all of us, Bulleit brought it back in 2024. Distilled by MGP in Indiana (the "95" in the name is a nod to MGP's rye mashbill, which contains 95% rye), the blended rye whiskey includes barrels up to 17 years old. It has a suggested retail price of $55, which is super low for a 12-year age-stated release. The new run is once again a limited release, so here's hoping it isn't discontinued again anytime soon.

Extra herbal, tropical fruit, pineapple, apples, pears. Bit of dill and spearmint, big honey. On the spectrum of sweets, this is more on the caramel and butterscotch end of things rather than brown sugar or burnt sugars and caramels. Nice pop of spearmint at first, finishes on the nose with cracked pepper.
Big candied ginger, tons of spice on the palate! The fruitiness fades in favor of cracked pepper, lovely herbal spice, rye notes and tons of clove and ginger. More caramel and brown sugar developing, light but pleasant oak for the age. Little bit of brown sugar, tons of butterscotch. Tons of rye spice. Huge spicy rye and plenty of oak.
Long finish, tons of pepper and spearmint, a touch of butterscotch and a wisp of tropical fruit.
This is really great and totally welcome to try in a cocktail as well given the price. There's tons of complexity, spice, sweetness and fruit. The proof makes it hard to judge, but the complexity, depth and diversity of flavors in this rye make it easy to recommend for any drinker.
