Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine is an unpeated Islay single malt made at the Bruichladdich Distillery. The 2026 release, also called Yellow Submarine III or Reclassified, is a 14 year old made from 100% Scottish barley and matured in first fill bourbon barrels and French red wine casks. It is bottled at 54.2% ABV, is non-chill filtered and sells for around $135.
Things heat up on the palate, again abetted by the higher than usual abv. A base of shortbread and gingerbread gets a dosing of sweeter, candied orange, a hint of heady incense, and ample notes of vanilla, driven by the bourbon barrels.
