This is one of two expressions released by Bruichladdich in February 2024 as part of its "Luxury Redefined" range. This 30-year-old single malt is aged in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 86.4 proof. Priced at $1,999.99, it certainly isn't cheap.
Indeed, I was surprised at how mildly some of the initial flavors came across. However, the liquid is partially redeemed by a captivating and truly unexpected finish, rich in chocolate and coffee notes.
When you think of 30-year-old Scotch single malt, think of this. This Bruichladdich is a fine example of expression at this age range; there’s very little to pick on.
Delicious and opulent. This is a killer release from Bruichladdich and delivers a richness I don’t always find in well-aged releases from the Islay distillery.
