Octomore 14.1, a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky, is made from 100% Scottish-grown Concerto barley malted to 128.9 PPM. It was distilled in 2017 from the 2016 harvest and aged for five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks before being bottled at 59.6% ABV.
Full-bodied with a very spicy and slightly rough character. Burnt black pepper, burnt caramel, and burnt marshmallows dominate, accompanied by peanuts roasted to the edge.
The nose has touches of honey, butterscotch, subtle smokiness, and a hint of black tea with lemon. Smoke and pepper build slowly on the palate to a sharp peak, with hints of heather, honey, and butterscotch in the background
As it wanders my mouth apple, vanilla, a hint of oak, some minor spice, honey and maple kick around in a beautiful harmony. Finish is light and ethereal, fading into a pleasant, slightly smoky twilight that haunts me.
