Bonal Gentiane-Quina is a French aperitif created in 1865 by Hyppolite Bonal in Saint-Laurent-du-Pont. It is made from a mistelle base infused with gentian, cinchona and herbs from the Grande Chartreuse mountains. Originally derived from quinine bark infusions once used to prevent malaria, it became known as “ouvre l’appétit,” the key to the appetite.
