Filly & Fiddle is one of six releases in Blue Run Spirits' third Flight Series drop, a collection of "micro batch" whiskeys dropped in May 2025. Owned by Coors Spirits Co., Blue Run's blending efforts are led by Head of Whiskey Development and Innovation Shaylyn Gammon, an alum of Wild Turkey. Gammon crafts each blend in the Flight Series from Kentucky bourbon and rye whiskeys sourced from Castle & Key, Bardstown Bourbon Company and a third, undisclosed Kentucky producer. Each whiskey in the collection is blended from an undisclosed mix of up to four mashbills: 6-year-old rye distilled from 80% rye, 12% corn and 8% malted barley; 5-year-old bourbon distilled from 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley; 5-year-old bourbon distilled from 65% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley; and 5-year-old rye distilled from 80% rye, 12% corn and 8% malted barley. Blue Run says each whiskey's name "celebrates a theme as an homage to the alluring contrasts across America’s varied cultures and landscapes." This one is Filly & Fiddle, named the bluegrass music and derby mares of Kentucky. Each bottle has a suggested retail price of $124.99.

Sweet, rich nose with a good amount of spice. Crème Brûlée, orange peel, cinnamon, burnt caramel, cherry, French toast.
This bourye (err, I recently learned that term is trademarked by the distillery famous for using that term, so I suppose I should simply call it a blend of bourbon and rye. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Anyway, it's) rich in both viscosity and flavor. Sweet desserty notes mingle with spice and a huge, lovely cherry note. Demerara, crème brûlée, cinnamon rolls, tannin, honey.
Long finish that leans into rye spice initially and then hits you with sweet notes. Cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel are followed by brown sugar, custard, toasted marshmallow, banana bread, sweet tobacco, black cherry, oak and tannin.
A masterful blend by Shaylyn Gammon and the Blue Run team. It's simultaneously rich and light and expertly balances decadent sweetness with oak and spice.
