Bladnoch Vinaya Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced in the Lowlands of Scotland and matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. It is bottled at 46.7% ABV in a 750ml format. The name “Vinaya,” from Sanskrit, means respect and gratitude and honors the distillery’s original founders
The single-malt flavor is unmistakable, though even here it walks on the light side. There’s a surprising chocolate finish that turns out to be nice. Before that, though, you taste pears and pepper-spice, along with a light effervescence that hints at sparking wine.
On the palate, a concentrated flavor of vanilla meets more ripe orchard fruits, marzipan and a tinge of fresh meadow flowers. The overall effect is very bright, with a long, sweet and slightly earthy finish and creamy, rich texture.
