Black Button Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey is produced by Black Button Distilling in New York. This New York straight bourbon has a mashbill of 60% corn, 20% wheat, 9% rye and 11% malted barley, with all grains sourced from Edgewood Farms in Groveland, New York. It is aged for over two years, bottled at 84 proof and available for around $54.
On the palate this whiskey starts mild but the flavor creeps in with a wisp of smoke, burnt marshmallows, and black pepper. This spirit insists you don't overlook it or you might miss out!
Its lack of age is evident on its sip, and more aging time is needed to bring out more complexity as well as its oak component. As is, its fruit notes and maltiness make for a fun sipper.
I don’t think I would have appreciated this a year ago, to be honest. I would have thought it was too young. Having tried other whiskies and especially bourbons that are too young, this isn’t.
