Bigallet China-China Amer is a French bittersweet orange liqueur produced by the Bigallet distillery in Virieu, Isère, in the French Alps, according to a recipe dating to 1875. The base spirit is distilled from sugar beets, with sweet Valencia orange peels and bitter Curaçao orange peels macerated and redistilled three times in copper alembic pot stills, then blended with botanicals including gentian, cinchona bark, anise and clove. It is bottled at 40% ABV and retails for around $40.
