At first, the palate is overwhelmed by alcohol heat and oak, but balanced with water this is luscious and buttery, with the oak melding into mellower vanilla.
The citrus and vanilla on the nose make for an approachable whiskey, although at $85 this certainly feels like plain TN whiskey dressed up in a fancy bottle, and that alone is not enough to sell me on this whiskey.
This is a good whiskey but when I taste stuff this good that’s been cut, I can’t help but wonder what sort of magnificence it could have been at cask strength.
