Bernheim Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey Batch A225 is produced by Heaven Hill and released in February 2025. It uses a mashbill of 51% wheat, 37% corn and 12% malted barley and is aged between seven and nine years. Bottled at 125.4 proof, it hosts a suggested retail price of $66.99 for a 750ml bottle.
The latest Bernheim Barrel Proof builds just slightly on the flavor profile its fans have come to enjoy. A light smokiness on the nose and a touch of miso on the finish take the expression into gradually new territory, though some of those changes come with dialed-down fruit and spice at certain junctures.
There is a sharp bite of spicy heat toward the finish, but the richness keeps its grip to smooth things out with additional notes of honey, cooked apple fruitiness, and toasted oak.
Featuring new flavor notes for the latest release of Bernheim Barrel Proof Original Wheat Whiskey, Batch A225 is slightly improved over last year’s batches, but it still isn’t enough to move the needle substantially.
