For someone just dipping their toes in the malty world of Single Malts, this Speyside offering would be a fantastic purchase. At $55 this is what I’d consider a fantastic value and a bottle I’d absolutely love to have on my shelf
The body is light all the way through. Just a touch of that fruit up front, bright, juicy peach and red grapefruit. This warms and sweetens to the back palate with note of red wine and cocoa.
BenRiach The Original Ten is a great intro to BenRiach, Speyside and Single Malt Scotch in general and I’d happily recommend it to new Scotch drinkers as a way to get to know the basic profile of Scotch whisky. It’s a tasty easy drinker and the perfect gateway into the rest of what Scotland has to offer.
The palate is quite malty and chewy, big with cereal notes and that classic burlap sack character. Some applesauce finally fruits up the finish, which is otherwise gritty and a bit smoldering.
BenRiach The Original Ten shows typical flavors from all three cask styles without overpowering each other. It feels more complex and luscious than a 10-year-old Speysider.
Inviting and easy to drink, Benriach's The Original Ten is a really great invitation to Benriach's core portfolio of offerings and serves to be an approachable dram to anyone.

House Review
Nose:
Bright and fresh - plenty of malt character combined with light citrus, some baking spice, pepper and a little honey. Light, effervescent, inviting.
Taste:
Medium mouthfeel, sweet on the palate. A good deal of honey, slivered almond, a hint of slate and minerality that pairs nicely with light brine and a faint wisp of ash and citrus.
Finish:
Long finish, filled with gingerbread, rising sourdough, toffee, cream, lime zest and faint salinity.
Overall:
Inviting and easy to drink, Benriach's The Original Ten is a really great invitation to Benriach's core portfolio of offerings and serves to be an approachable dram to anyone.
