Benriach Peated Quarter Cask is distilled from peated malted barley and fully matured in quarter casks, bottled at 46% ABV. These smaller casks create a higher wood-to-whisky ratio during aging and speed up the maturation process, per the brand. It sells for around $75.
Youngish fruits and dry, modest peat. Modern, which means it comes without flaws but it’s lacking a clear-cut identity. Perhaps too expensive for what it is: around € 60-75 depending where you look.
