Benchmark Top Floor Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is aged on the top warehouse floors at Buffalo Trace in Kentucky, where heat accelerates maturation. It is bottled at 86 proof.
Benchmark Top Floor isn’t bad at all. It’s not amazing, but it’s still very solid for under $20, where there are a lot of bad whiskeys out there waiting to trap you and make you wish that you hadn’t bought it.
For an 86 proofer this is impressively bodied. The oak is the star for sure, and rather than overtaking the sweetness it makes the whiskey smooth and well-boded for a young product.
It won’t blow anyone away, but much like Evan Williams “Black Label” (which is priced and proofed exactly the same), Benchmark Top Floor Bourbon is a good value bourbon that delivers a pleasing sip that most will enjoy.
