Barterhouse Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is aged 20 years in American oak and bottled at 45.1% ABV. Produced by Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
The mouthfeel is lightly creamy with all of the main action occurring at the back of the mouth. You get caramel and cinnamon on the palate along with a predominate oak. It’s a dry tasting experience and the mouth is left feeling like you’ve spent an afternoon boarding on the sand dunes.
This is a complex bourbon with some very nice notes of vanilla and barrel char. This would be a nice bottle to have on the bar and bring out when your whiskey friends come over. I don’t like that the story behind the bourbon is so vague and has so many unknowns.
