Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon is a blend of 8-year-old Kentucky bourbon, 5-, 6- and 9-year-old Indiana bourbon; 8-year-old Tennessee bourbon; and 5- and 6-year-old Maryland bourbon. The derived mashbill consists of 73% corn, 23% rye, and 4% malted barley. Finished in new American oak casks, it is bottled at 100 proof and priced at around $54.99 for a 750 ml bottle.

  • Despite the improved mouthfeel, I prefer the brightness of the standard offering just a bit more. But kudos to Barrell for giving us something more nuanced than the pushy, double-barreled oak bombs we find too often on the shelf.
