  • All in all, this is a pretty cool profile, one that brings together brighter fruity notes with sweet, aromatic oak and rye spice. It fits perfectly into the particular niche that Barrell Craft Spirits has already carved out for themselves...

  • Once again, it’s a high quality bourbon blend, but one batch a year going forward is probably plenty given all the other Barrell offerings out there.

  • The overall flavor profile is quite rye forward and lively, with more of a rich, sweet bourbon characteristic showing up after a couple of sips.

  • A really competent batch here, one of my favorites in quite some time. It’s a bruiser, a height of the 30’s (so far).

  • Nose:

Big and bright, the nose is all dessert and delicious, nutty, decadence. Toffee, butter cream, pralines and almonds, orgeat, orange peel, custard and big, sweet, tobacco. Rich, loads going on.

  • Taste:

Pleasant, rich palate. Fat, rich, it’s layered and sticky without being super high proof or super hot. Tobacco, orange peel, pipe tobacco, toffee, fudge, espresso and some custard again. Really satisfying.

  • Finish:

Long finish, lots of oak here mixing well with brown sugar, honey, toffee, custard, more tobacco and strong oak.

  • Overall:

A really competent batch here, one of my favorites in quite some time. It’s a bruiser, a height of the 30’s (so far).
