Bán Poitín is a traditional Irish poitín produced by Echlinville Distillery in County Down, Northern Ireland. Made from potatoes, malted barley and sugar beets, it is distilled in small batches and bottled at 48% ABV. The spirit revives Ireland’s historic “Bawn Potcheen,” a once-illicit moonshine dating back to 1661, and typically retails for about $35–40.

According to tasting notes, it offers aromas of cinnamon, rye bread and lemon curd, with a palate of cinnamon, nutmeg, milk chocolate and coffee, finishing clean with a hint of lemon.

  • The palate puts the throttle down on all fronts, its warming palate turning intensely savory, with elements of roast beef on burnt rye toast.
