  • Baker’s 13 Year Old Limited Edition Single Barrel is a good, traditional-tasting bourbon, but doesn’t push the boundaries enough to break out and take things to the next level.

  • Nose:

Dense, sweet nose. Demerara sugar, coconut shavings, lemon meringue pie, butterscotch, molasses, luxardo cherry syrup, gingerbread, fondant, cola.

  • Taste:

Phenomenally thick viscosity. Classic peanutty beam funk is surrounded by sweet, syrupy cherry cola, watermelon candy, orange peel, cornbread, vanilla custard, toasted marshmallow, buttercream frosting, oak char and tannin. Some flecks of cinnamon and peppermint dance around the sweetness.

  • Finish:

Rich buttercream frosting drives a satisfying long finish, followed by mocha, raspberry filling, almond, vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge and then some oak and tannin and a touch of minerality to close things out.

  • Overall:

A dynamite bourbon from Beam. This is a single-barrel product, so your mileage will vary, but goodness is my bottle (from barrel No. 000075715) a delight. The mouthfeel is off the chain, and the flavor is rich, oaky and downright delicious. It’s powerful yet crushable and packed with flavor. I could sip this every day, no problem. One of my favorite bourbons of 2025 thus far.
