The whiskey is made from malted barley that is ground and cooked before being fermented for about 60 hours. It undergoes triple distillation in copper stills. After distillation, it is aged for at least 12 years in a combination of used bourbon and sherry oak casks.

  • This isn't a P-Funkadelic, malty Scotch whisky, but rather a smooth jazz version. Soothing and mellow, this is a whisky perfect for bourbon drinkers longing to make the leap to Scotch-land.

  • Adding dilution brings out mellow mocha and hazelnut, overall suggesting chocolate chip cookie dough.

  • The best of both worlds — fruity, jammy, and delicious, with just a small hint of smoke and floral blossoms.

  • Auchentoshan 12 years is a nice oily malt and while it isn’t very complex it is a fun dram that’s easy to drink and full of character. A decent buy if you can nab it for under $70.
