Athletic Brewing Co. Upside Dawn Non-Alcoholic Golden Ale, brewed in Connecticut, has an ABV of less than 0.5%. It is made with organic malts from the U.S. and Germany and a blend of English and American hops, plus water, oats, wheat and yeast. It contains 45 calories and 10 grams of carbs per 12-ounce can and is brewed in the golden/blonde style.

While fermented from grains containing gluten, it was "crafted to remove gluten," according to Athletic. The brand does note, however, that the gluten content cannot be verified and may contain some gluten, although every batch is tested to ensure it's under the 20 ppm threshold required for a product to be labeled gluten-free.

  • Nose:

    Malty, pleasant nose.

  • Taste:

Crisp, light and malt-forward with a nice bitter bite. Reminds me of a pilsner or a kolsch.

  • Finish:

The finish is bitter, malty and lightly hoppy.

  • Overall:

This is fantastic. I’m a big beer drinker and I don’t think I would know this was NA if you didn’t tell me. Delicious, crisp and refreshing.

  • Score:
