ASW Fiddler Big Green Egg Bourbon is a wheated bourbon whiskey created through a collaboration between ASW Distillery and Big Green Egg, both based in Atlanta, Georgia. Distilled in Indiana from a mash bill of 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley, the whiskey is matured in Georgia for nearly seven years before being finished on hand-harvested Georgia white oak staves toasted or charred using a Big Green Egg ceramic cooker. The standard small-batch expression is bottled at 100 proof, while limited cask-strength releases are offered at higher proofs. The bourbon typically retails for about $80.

  • A very lovely bourbon. It’s sweet, pleasant and easy drinking, has a great balance of flavors between rich sweet notes and more savory wheat characteristics, and has a really nice, oily mouthfeel.

  • The palate opens with vanilla extract, but it doesn’t linger long. Cedarwood soon takes over, setting the stage for flavors that shift toward orange juice and the spiced zing of Big Red gum.

  • Nose:

Lovely nose filled with powdered sugar, butterscotch, caramel candies and banana pudding

  • Taste:

Lightly Oily viscosity that coats the palate nicely, with a lovely big butterscotch note that dominates the palate. Underneath that is a bit of wheaty funk, toasted oak and a zing of orange peel

  • Finish:

The finish opens heavy on the wheat with big shredded wheat and leather notes, which transitions into coffee bean, pepper and a bit of vanilla

  • Overall:

This is a very lovely bourbon. It’s sweet, pleasant and easy drinking, has a great balance of flavors between rich sweet notes and more savory wheat characteristics, and has a really nice, oily mouthfeel.
