Arran Barrel Reserve is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Arran Distillery, matured in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at 43% ABV. Released in 2019, it comes in a 700ml format.
The finish is short, with vanilla pudding, lemon peel, white pepper, coriander seed, and oak. A starting point and blank canvas of sorts for what Arran's malt can be.
Gently salty — just barely — with a slightly tarry finish. It’s a fine whisky considering the price, but it’s nowhere near as evocative as Arran’s other expressions can be.
