Arran Sauternes Cask Finish is a single malt Scotch whisky from Scotland, bottled at 50% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is matured for eight years in oak casks and finished in Sauternes wine casks sourced from a Bordeaux producer.
The punchy brightness of the whisky endures into the finish, evoking (dry) white wine, a pinch of brown sugar, and late-game notes of red apple and a reprise of Ruby Red grapefruit. Hard to put down, so be warned.
Nuts and caramel continue on the palate along with pistachios and pears. Though you get honey on the back end, the finish is on the dry side. At the end of the day, it satisfies
A fine sip but less refined than other Arran expressions. Thick and slightly overdone in terms of both the syrupy sweetness and the (fragrant) woody character, so probably not for everyone.
