Armorik Double Maturation is a French single malt whisky from Warenghem Distillery in Brittany. It is made from 100% malted barley and aged in new Brittany oak barrels, then transferred to ex-sherry casks for further maturation. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and priced around $50.
Armorik Double Maturation is my favorite of the Armoriks. Like the others it’s well crafted with a nice balance and structure to it accompanied by a great texture or mouthfeel if you will.
This whisky, matured initially in local oak and finished in first-fill sherry casks, has perfumy aromas that lift up its malt-forward character. Spicy and floral, with flavors of citrus, cherry, raspberry-jam cookie, salted nuts, and savory tobacco, it is delicate with a satisfying creamy texture.
Subtlety is the key with this one. All of its characteristics are delicate, but seem to be polite to one another and give each one ample time to manifest.
