Ardmore Traditional Cask Peated is a Highland Scotch produced by Ardmore in Scotland. The whisky combines 6- to 13-year-old bourbon cask-matured malts and undergoes finishing in smaller quarter casks for at least a year. Bottled at 46% ABV, it debuted in 2007 as part of Ardmore's single malt range.
The body has a slight oily quality to it and the taste is full of malt, barrel spices, and honey. The peat smoke turns up the volume on the finish and is the last to leave the party.
The bourbon oak intensity dominates to a degree, disrupting the harmony of the remaining flavors. A whisky of great potential, but still waiting to achieve some of it.
