  • It is apparent that the sherry has a good amount of influence and brings some fruity sweetness in with the smoke.

  • The finish is lengthy and brooding — aided by the considerably higher alcohol level — a lingering reminder of how this Ardbeg may be an entirely different beast, yet just as good as the 10.

  • Ardbeg Uigeadail is a great whisky. The balance of the smokiness and sweetness is a beautiful harmony. Paired with the intense spice, it makes for a well-rounded palate that does not leave one wanting more.

  • Fewer subtleties, but this famous expression is still a lovely peater. Just not a glorious one that stands out anymore

  • While I have myself experienced direct showdowns between newer and older bottles of this dram and lived to bear witness to the varying personalties of each, I can also say that as a regular release Uigeadail retains a level of quality which eludes the vast majority of single malts on the market today. Shorthand: this is tasty as hell.

  • Coffee grounds, smoked toasted barley, prunes, tobacco leaves, sea salt, caramel--the list goes on. The sweetness is present, but isn't singing any louder than the rest of the band members.

  • Although this supposedly has more sherry than the Corry, it wasn’t as sweet. It was still delicious, though.

  • Nicely balanced. Lengthy in the finish, with smoky caramel.

  • Nose:

Smoke. Peat. Smoke. Peat. Plastic! This is a really dense nose, and its mildly overwhelming but not in an off putting way.

  • Taste:

There's a whole lot more smoke in this dram, and it tastes like a big puddle of burnt plastic. Thicker, oilier. Theres some pleasant sweetness, some vanilla, faint fig and stewed fruit. Then its back to fairly aggressive peat.

  • Finish:

The finish is long and slowly fading. No real heat, just smoke.

  • Overall:

Although this supposedly has more sherry than the Corry, it isn't as sweet. It was still delicious, though.
