The inaugural release in Ardbeg's Anthology Collection, this is The Harpy's Tale, a 13-year-old scotch aged in a mix of bourbon and Sauternes wine casks. Bottled at 92 proof, The Harpy's Tale is priced at $164.99. Ardbeg Director of Distilling and Whiskey Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden describes this expression as "a battle between sweet and smoke." Indeed, sweet Sauternes casks are unusual for Ardbeg, which is known for its intensely peaty single malts.

Heavy minerality, lovely orange blossom and lemon peel. Buttercream, toffee, barbecue smoke and a touch of meaty ash.
Sweet on the palate with tons of vanilla, orange peel, rosewater, minerality, slate and barbecue. Gorgeous combination of sweetness, minerality and brioche dessert character.
Long finish, heavy on the toffee, vanilla cream, lemon zest, minerality, light oak and buttercream.
Quite a lovely pour from Ardbeg. The combination of Sauternes and ex-bourbon works wonders here delivering sweetness, complexity and that signature Ardbeg DNA.
