  • Nose:

Rich on the nose with lots of pear, peat, lemon, apricot, blueberry, lemon tart and vanilla custard. Delicious.

  • Taste:

Moderate on the palate — greatly improved richness over batch 4. Lovely ash, pepper, slate and burning oak. More berry, apricot, toffee and minerality.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Ash gives way to lemon zest, blueberry crumble, vanilla custard and a crackle of pepper, minerality and barbecue smoke.

  • Overall:

A notable step up from Batch 4, this pour shakes the frailty of the previous and satisfies with tons of fun complexity.

  • Score:

    88
