  • All told, this whiskey is a bit less composed than prior renditions, but it’s never more than a minor departure from the house style.

  • Nose:

Intoxicatingly (in flavor, not ethanol) rich nose with lots of port character plus dark chocolate, walnuts, cinnamon, spearmint and tobacco.

  • Taste:

Tons of port on the palate, joined by chocolate-covered almonds, spearmint again, oak, tannin, brown sugar, anise, nutmeg and cornbread.

  • Finish:

The finish is warming with more port, walnuts, char, cinnamon and cornbread.

  • Overall:

Really delicious port-finished bourbon that delivers a nice sweet profile with balancing spice and oak.

  • Score:

    92
