AKASHI White Oak Single Malt Whisky is produced at Eigashima Distillery in Japan. It is a non-chill-filtered blend of 7-year, 5-year and 4-year malts aged in Spanish cherry oak, American oak and bourbon oak casks.
The palate delivers more honey, sweet spices and herbal/earthy aromas. All that said, the obvious lack of depth and subtlety makes the whiskey overall a disappointment.
The honey-fruity core of tangerine, watermelon, orange oils, Starburst candies, and a little caramel imports attractive flavors, the balance and complexity given heft by the white pepper and dried chili notes. The drawback is the lack of body and texture.
