Akashi Single Malt is a Japanese whisky produced by Eigashima Shuzo at its White Oak Distillery in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, located along the Seto Inland Sea. It is distilled from slightly peated malted barley and aged in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, ex-brandy and ex-shochu casks, with no age statement. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and retails for approximately $100-$125 in the U.S.

  • The palate delivers more honey, sweet spices and herbal/earthy aromas. All that said, the obvious lack of depth and subtlety makes the whiskey overall a disappointment.
