Admiral Rodney HMS Royal Oak is produced by Saint Lucia Distillers and aged 7 to 12 years in ex-bourbon casks. Distilled entirely on a Coffey still, it is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml format. As the original Admiral Rodney blend, it is named after the HMS Royal Oak, a ship that played a key role in the Battle of the Saints.
There’s an outstanding balance here that never comes across as overly sweet, while the aftermath offers a light touch of maple. Solid stuff, and quite versatile.
Mild vanilla and banana. The finish is of a medium length with a touch of sweetness courtesy of caramel and raisins before the spicy, peppery oak barges through and takes over
