‘Jagger Has Been All Over It to the Finest Detail’: A Look Inside the Florida Distillery Behind The Rolling Stone’s New Crossfire Hurricane Rum

Over the years, The Rolling Stones have dipped their toes into virtually every spirit under the sun. A London Dry gin, 50th Anniversary Whisky and multiple Jose Cuervo Tequila releases ranging from $20 to $2,000 have created a pantheon of boozy options featuring the iconic lips and tongue logo.

In November, another was added to the fray. Crossfire Hurricane — a blended mix of Jamaican, Barbados and Dominican-sourced rums aged up to five years in charred oak —  touched down for pre-order at $37. According to the brand, consumers can expect it on liquor store shelves in early 2024.

Crossfire Hurricane is the latest release from The Point Distillery in New Port Richey, Florida. Headed up by Spencer Wolf, a British ex-pat with a heavy, decidedly non-Floridian accent, the team has 28,000 gallons of the spirit locked and loaded for market.

“We are beyond ecstatic and very proud to be producing a product for the most iconic rock band in the world,” said Richey in a press release.

“This association is both a tribute to the team at the Point Distillery and a classic example of how local government can work hand-in-hand with business, creating employment opportunities, economic growth and provide unique recognition both domestically and internationally for Pasco County.”

Unlike The Rolling Stones’ other spirits ventures — in which their logo was licensed out — Crossfire Hurricane is the first alcohol brand to be owned by the band themselves. Wolf says it makes a big difference.

“Mick Jagger has been all over it to the finest detail,” Wolf told FOX 13 in an interview. “And they wanted a product that represented them. If you look at the back label, they’ve actually signed them.”

The rum is said to balance flavors of caramelized banana with a “gentle hint of tropical fruit.” As The Rolling Stones prepare for their first US tour in over three years, we can expect their latest spirit to start popping up everywhere.
