Fairfields Rum of the Americas has officially entered the U.S. market with the introduction of its first bottling of rum. Founded by entrepreneurs Frank Klein and Joy Branford, the Connecticut-based company aims to provide a “unique and refreshing” rum experience with ingredients sourced throughout the Americas.

According to a press release published on Tuesday, Fairfields’ inaugural release offers a dry, light palate produced from a blend of agricole and molasses distillations. The brand positions its creation as an “evolution” of the category for rum enthusiasts and a “new go-to-spirit alternative” for tequila and vodka drinkers. With this goal in mind, it uses the tagline, “If you like your tequila, you will love our rum.”

“Our vision was to create a rum where you could just smash some fruit or citrus on the bottom of a glass (or not), add ice and drink with friends or just make a simple three ingredient cocktail,” Klein stated in the press release.

“A daiquiri was a margarita with rum before a margarita was a margarita and we are going back to those roots.”

Fairfields Rum of the Americas has already received positive feedback from industry experts. Ryan Magarin, founder of Aviation American Gin, praised the brand for achieving a balance between complexity and drinkability.

“You landed a great balance with a fresh light rum of complexity and easy drinkability,” Magarin said, per the report. “Hard balance to get and you did it. Congrats on that.”

Fairfields Rum of the Americas is priced at $28.99 per 750-ml bottle. Currently, it is available in Connecticut and will soon be distributed to 35 states. The company plans to expand further in 2024 by entering major retailers in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California.

“Joy Branford, my business partner in this journey, was born in St. Lucia, and raised in Brooklyn,” Klein added in the press release. “When we worked long hours in the hotel business, we drank a lot of post-shift rum from all over the world.”

“We dreamed of making a dry rum made in the USA, created from ingredients sourced from the Americas and that was clear as rainwater with a refreshingly crisp taste. We believe quality rum, with all its complexities and nuances, should go toe to toe with tequila and vodka for being a go-to-spirit.”

Fairfields is also set to release a Reserve sherry-cask finished 8-year aged dark rum in the new year. For more information, visit the brand’s website at www.rumoftheamericas.com.
