Cygnet, a Welsh gin brand owned by classical singer Katherine Jenkins OBE, has announced its entry into the ready-to-drink (RTD) category with a canned Gin & Tonic. As reported by The Drinks Business, the product’s premiere aligns with the Six Nations Championship, where Jenkins graced the occasion with a star-studded pitch-side appearance before the match on Saturday.

“I am so excited to be launching our Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic this weekend to the home-crowd at Principality Stadium in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union,” Jenkins said, per The Drinks Business.

“My career started here in 2003 when I proudly sang ‘Mae hen wlad fy nhadau’ on the pitch, and it means the world to me to have the same level of support from the WRU today as it did 20 years ago.”

“The home of Welsh rugby will always have a special place in my heart, which is why it feels like such a full circle moment to be announcing that my Cygnet Gin collection is now permanently available at the stadium, across the bars this Super Saturday and beyond.”

The Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic, packaged in 250-ml cans, boasts a 7% ABV with just 22 calories per 100-ml serving.

In her quest to challenge norms in the male-dominated spirits industry, Jenkins debuted Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin in 2023. The inspiration for the venture arose when she discovered the “lesser-known” Welsh spirit being crafted just six miles from her hometown in 2021. The flagship offering blends juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orris root, chamomile flower, citrus, licorice and almond. Following its initial success, the label expanded its range with Cygnet 22, incorporating manuka honey, bee pollen, lemon balm, rose petals and white peppercorns into the mix.

In another RTD release for this year’s Six Nations Championship, Blackeye Gin, founded by former England rugby professionals Mike Tindall and James Haskell, just launched its own canned Gin & Tonic. With every purchase of a Blackeye Gin bottle or a pack of the new RTD cocktails, a donation is made to support the game of rugby and the future of its players.
