Truly Hard Seltzer Embraces the Trends With New Tequila Soda Lineup

Truly, one of the most recognizable names in the hard seltzer category, is kicking off spring with a quartet of agave spirits-based flavors.

Following a limited rollout in 2023, Truly Tequila Soda has been officially unveiled in Lime, Grapefruit, Watermelon and Pineapple Guava flavors. Made with tequila blanco and fruit juice, the 5% ABV sippers promise to capitalize on one of the hottest trends sweeping the canned cocktail market.

“As an original innovator in the hard seltzer space, we’re constantly looking to delight our drinkers in new ways,” said Matt Withington, Truly Hard Seltzer’s senior director of marketing.

“Last year, lucky test markets received a first taste of Truly Tequila Soda and we’re thrilled to share it with drinkers everywhere and invite them to take a ‘tequilacation’ with every sip.”

While the 2010s were dominated by malt-based hard seltzer brands like White Claw and Truly, the 2020s have introduced a new generation of spirits-based cocktails — usually made with either vodka or tequila — referred to as RTDs. Market forecasts have predicted that hard seltzers will take a backseat to these premium, “fuller-flavored” options in years to come.

Established brands are quickly shifting their strategy. Last March, High Noon expanded its catalog with a range of tequila seltzers. Weeks later, White Claw announced its first vodka seltzers alongside the release of its “Triple Wave Filtered” White Claw Vodka.

Truly is no stranger to the trends, previously having released limited-edition Vodka Seltzer and Vodka Soda lines throughout 2023.
