Jim Beam Teams up With Twisted Tea Brewer to Expand Lineup of Malt-Based Kentucky Coolers Canned Cocktails

Bourbon giant Jim Beam is digging deeper into its stockpile of malt-based beverages just in time for the summer.

The brand has teamed back up with The Boston Beer Company — makers of Twisted Tea, Truly Hard Seltzer and Samuel Adams — to expand its Kentucky Coolers lineup with four new flavors. Initially launched in May 2023, the Coolers collection highlights Punch- and Lemonade-centric flavors canned at 5% ABV each. The new quartet features:

  • Orange Crush: “Bright, citrusy notes of orange complemented by a hint of sweetness and taste of bourbon.”
  • Peach Crush: “Sweet and tangy, just like biting into a fresh peach, complementing the bourbon tasting notes.”
  • Blueberry Lemonade: “Crisp, light flavors of lemon meet the taste of muddled blueberries and bourbon.”
  • Strawberry Lemonade: “Tart and fruity; the epitome of sunny-day sipping and balance to the bourbon tasting notes.”

Jim Beam is far from the first spirits company to venture into the booming malt-based drinks market. Jack Daniel’s expansive Country Cocktail catalog, which features brightly colored flavors like Southern Peach and Downhome Punch, is produced by Pabst Brewing Company. On the agave spirits side, brands like Topo Chico, Cacti and Lime-A-Rita play up the “margarita” influence without a splash of tequila in sight.

Jim Beam’s twist on the concept pays homage to Baltimore’s Orange Crush cocktail, typically made with a combination of orange juice, vodka, triple sec and lemon-lime soda. The brand says that its Orange and Peach varieties put a “southern spin” on the regional favorite.

“We know firsthand how a carefully crafted beverage can complement life’s most cherished moments and that is captured in every can of Kentucky Coolers cracked open with the ones we love. We are proud to continue to innovate this iconic brand and introduce more unique flavors for people to connect over and share,” Jim Beam Global Brand Vice President Veronique Mura said in a news release.

Consumers hoping to check out Jim Beam’s new Kentucky Coolers flavors can pick them up in-store or online at a suggested retail price of $15.99 for a 12-can variety pack.
