At this point, you can find a ready-to-drink cocktail for just about any occasion, whether you’re looking for a $150 bottle of high-quality Old Fashioned or some easy-sipping canned cocktails for a hot summer day.
That last category — low-ABV cans of refreshing beverages — is among the most saturated segment of the market. Brands everywhere vie to get their cans in the hands of grill-masters and cookout-goers this summer, where it feels like the light beer category’s monopolistic chokehold has started to slip.

Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers’ canned gin cocktails recently debuted in the U.S. and should be on your radar if you’re in the market for refreshing canned cocktails this summer.
They come in three fruity flavors, each crafted around a base of Dillon’s Dry Gin 7 and light and canned at 5% ABV: Tangerine, Lemon & A Hint of Mint; Blackberry, Lemon & A Dash of Elderflower; and Black Cherry & A Touch of Cranberry.

3. Black Cherry & A Touch of Cranberry: Sweet and pleasant, this drink is largely dominated by black cherry, whose tart flavor is pleasantly balanced by sweet cranberry, which has a large presence. Although my least favorite of the three flavors, this canned cocktail is tasty and perfect for anyone who likes a blast of sweetness in their drinks.
2. Blackberry, Lemon & A Dash of Elderflower: This is light, sweet and refreshing. The elderflower plays heavily alongside sweet blackberry and just enough tart lemon to balance the profile. This is a wonderful drink, and while similarly sweet, it’s a bit more nuanced than the Black Cherry flavor.
1. Tangerine, Lemon & A Hint of Mint: Easily my favorite flavor, this is one of the best low-ABV canned cocktails I’ve ever tasted. Many canned cocktails that incorporate mint come across with a sugary, spearmint-gum sort of note that sticks out like a sore thumb. That’s not remotely the case with Dillon’s mint-infused offering. The mint in this drink tastes like fresh mint leaves from the garden, and it works exquisitely with the equally naturally tasting tangerine, which is prominent, citrusy and perfectly complemented by tart lemon. This flavor is a delicious and refreshing canned cocktail that delivers welcome complexity despite only 5% ABV.
All in all, this is a wonderful lineup of canned cocktails that stands out above the crowd. These are made with real gin and taste fresher and more natural than many competing brands.
