The popular vodka brand known for its unique bottle shape, Crystal Head, has announced the launch of its first canned ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails. The new line of cocktails will be available in two flavors of iconic vodka libations, the Cosmopolitan and Espresso Martini.

Crystal Head Vodka was launched by comedian, actor and writer Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander in 2008. Aykroyd has maintained an active role in the brand and has led the way in the growth of the company. The RTD cocktails were a logical next step for Crystal Head Vodka since RTD beverages have steadily gained popularity and are now one of the best-selling products in the spirit-based beverage space.

The Ghostbusters actor told Forbes, “We didn’t want to miss out on the growing trend. We are right about to hit that crest and we’re going to come on very strong with this. We’ll be in the national chains with it and I can just see the marketing: beachfront resorts, a big barrel or washtub filled with ice and these cans thrown in there.

“I think they’re going to move beautifully,” Akroyd continued.

Crystal Head’s Cosmopolitan and Espresso Martini cocktails come in 100ml cans.  With a 20% ABV, the ready-to-drink beverages have a higher ABV than many on the market. The cocktails are as ingredient-driven as the vodka itself and are meant to reflect the quality normally found in bars.

Aykroyd believes that the real difference between these canned cocktails and others on the market is the quality of the spirit at its base.

“We use peaches and cream corn for our mash— a single farm strain originally from the 1800s,” the SNL comedian told Forbes. “Then we mix that with glacial aquifer water from the Wisconsin glacier, which sat over the northeastern part of North America 16,000 years ago. When it melted over Newfoundland it produced all of these beautiful lakes and ponds and this phenomenal supply of untouched, unpolluted water directly underneath.”

Aykroyd continued, “You’re looking at pretty much the purest vodka on the planet.”

The RTD cocktails are set to launch later this spring and will have a suggested retail price of $5 for an individual can.
