Bottle Raiders’ Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Recipe

The Mint Julep is a simple cocktail to make and even easier to drink. You can make the cocktail with only bourbon and mint-infused simple syrup. Or you can add some hibiscus syrup as well, giving it more of a tea-like vibe.

It’s a refreshing summer drink that has its origins in the Arab world. The original version of the drink was made with rose petals, which gave it a delicate scent that people believed would enhance their lives. Over time, the recipe for the mint julep evolved and indigenous mint was used in place of the rose petals. This new version of the drink became popular in the Mediterranean region and eventually made its way to America.

Today, the mint julep is enjoyed by many on hot summer days. While the recipe has changed over time, the refreshing and cooling properties of this beverage have remained constant, making it a staple of spring and summertime celebrations, including the Kentucky Derby.
