German gin distillery Monkey 47 has recently introduced its latest Distiller’s Cut expression. Marking the spirit producer’s 13th release in the series, the 2023 edition is enriched with a subtle sweetness from maple syrup. Partnering with London’s esteemed Turner & George butchery, Monkey 47 has also unveiled the Black Forest Bundele, a limited-edition holiday gift set, Verge Magazine reported on Wednesday.
Promising to be “the perfect gift for the carnivorous mixologist in your life,” the Black Forest Bundele includes a bottle of Monkey 47’s 2023 Distiller’s Cut Gin, a Monkey 47 Gin leather apron, a bottle of maple syrup, a cocktail shaker and stirrer, a Monkey 47 chopping board, two 200g venison loin steaks, one 200g bavarian speck, a cocktail recipe card and a venison recipe card.
Distilled in the Black Forest, Monkey 47’s gin is distinguished by its 47 botanicals. The 2023 Distiller’s Cut takes the brand’s flagship recipe a step further by introducing a 48th ingredient, maple syrup from Cosman & Webb. According to the distillery, this infusion results in a spicy and refined dry gin featuring a subtle sweetness and dense complexity.
“Our annual Distiller’s Cut bottles bring expertly-crafted additions to our ‘fantastisch’ floral flavours, and our 13th year is no exception,” said Monkey 47 Brand Director Liam Murphy, according to Verge Magazine. “The maple syrup botanical creates a complex but delicate taste that we know Monkey 47 fans will love.”

To complement this launch, Monkey 47 has also collaborated with acclaimed bartender Rich Woods, presenting a unique cocktail experience named “Breakfast in the Black Forest.” This exclusive concoction, featuring the new Distiller’s Cut, pays homage to the beloved combination of syrup and bacon.
“The cocktail I’ve created is sizzling with sweet and savoury flavours to honour the maple and bacon combination,” Woods said in the report. “This year’s Distiller’s Cut is a gorgeous pairing of German botanicals and Canadian syrup, and I hope budding bartenders can use my tutorials to wow their friends with Breakfast in the Black Forest.”
The limited bottles of Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut are available starting November 13 from Masters of Malt, while the Black Forest Bundele can be directly acquired from Turner & George, priced at £247.00 (about $307).
