Each year after the Academy Awards draw to a close, the film industry’s biggest stars, writers and producers file off to the Governors Ball afterparty. Golden statuettes are paraded around, luxury gift bags are handed out and Wolfgang Puck serves up some 25,000 black truffle and caviar-soaked dishes.
For the seventh year in a row, Don Julio Tequila cocktails will also be on the menu.
Celebrating the occasion, Don Julio recruited mixologist Charles Roy and Mexico’s 2023 World Class Bartender of the Year Israel Barón to create a collection of signature cocktails worthy of the stars. Paying homage to “the flavors of Modern Mexico,” this year’s selection dials up beloved classics with punchy flavors of chocolate, pineapple and coriander.
“Tequila Don Julio is the epitome of celebration so it was only appropriate to embrace the night with award-worthy cocktails curated with the luxury tequila’s versatile offerings,” says Charles Joly.
“While the cocktails work cohesively together, they each stand on their own as a signature drink featuring diverse styles of serves and a range of exquisite flavor profiles honoring modern Mexico.”
In addition to 1942 Encore — essentially, a shot of tequila served with a mole-flavored chocolate truffle — the two main cocktails on display are the Round of Applause and It’s Showtime, twists on the martini and margarita respectively. If you’d like to mix one up for yourself, find the recipes below:
