The Mirror US reported on Tuesday that those interested in partaking in a glass of Bailey’s Irish Cream should be aware of a potentially costly side effect of enjoying this festive tipple over the holidays.

The Mirror reported that professionals at MyBuilder.com warned revelers against pouring a glass of Bailey’s Irish Cream down the sink due to the high amount of fat it contains. High concentrations of fat can stick to pipes and cause expensive plumbing issues down the line.

“Cream liqueur drinks, such as the popular Christmas favorite, Bailey’s, can be a problem for your plumbing at Christmas,” a statement read from the site. “While it may be delicious to drink, it doesn’t keep for long and often ends up down the sink.”

Other festive food items might also cause blockage, or what the outlet referred to as “fatbergs” in pipes. Leftover turkey fat is a common culprit, according to the Mirror. The holidays are typically a tough time when it comes to finding a plumber who is available to work. Because of this, those who do often charge higher prices, according to The Mirror.

Bailey’s is owned by the spirits giant, Diageo.

In May, Diageo announced it unveiling paper packaging with sustainability in mind, and Bailey’s would be the perfect brand to test it out. The paper packaging made its way into the hands of consumers during Barcelona’s Time Out Festival.

“When it comes to our packaging, we’re taking an approach of progress over perfection, knowing our packaging will need to evolve along with consumer needs and technological advancements,” Diageo President of Global Supply Chain & Procurement and Chief Sustainability Officer Ewan Andrew said in a statement. “The consumer is becoming more sustainability savvy and we believe we can meet that need using our design and innovation to bring premium products and more sustainable solutions together.”
