This brand-new (just launched this week) revamped release from Beam delivers everything and more you could hope for in a sub-$30 bourbon: an impressive age statement (7 years), a moderate proof (90) and a major award win (Double Gold Medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition).
Beam Master Distillers Fred and Freddie Noe described this bourbon as “the culmination of our family’s dedication to crafting the finest bourbon.” Not bad for a bottle with a $25 MSRP!
Middle West Rye Whiskey ($47)

One of the more under-the-radar great rye whiskeys on the American scene, this bottling from the Columbus, Ohio-based Middle West Spirits is dark, brooding and a delightful blend of sweet and spicy notes.
This four-grain whiskey is made from dark pumpernickel rye, which Middle West claims makes it America’s first dark pumpernickel rye whiskey.
Middle West is an underrated brand that’s totally worth checking out, and this rye is a great place to start.
Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 Year Old ($65)

Find at a Total Wine Near You
Old Scout is the calling card of Smooth Ambler, the cult-favorite whiskey distillery nestled in the mountainous landscape of West Virginia.
Smooth Ambler distills plenty of whiskey (which is great), but Old Scout is its line of sourced whiskey (because they “scout” out great whiskey and then bottle it). Old Scout 7 Year Old is a popular, extra-aged version of the usual high-rye Old Scout bourbon. The 7-year was so popular upon its release that Smooth Ambler quickly ran out of stock.
Until, that is, early 2024, when Smooth Ambler announced the triumphant return of Old Scout 7. Get it before it’s gone again! This bourbon is distilled from a mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley and bottled at 99 proof.
Aberfeldy 15 Year Old ($75)

For the scotch loving dad, this delicate, elegant scotch will strike all the right notes. It delivers plenty of oak thanks to that 15-year age statement, and has a lovely sweet and floral flavor profile to balance the oakiness. And then there’s the Sémillon cask finish, which adds a beautiful dry white wine character that complements the scotch profile perfectly.
This limited-edition scotch is bottled at 43% ABV and will make for the perfect summertime sipper as the weather continues to heat up.
Wyoming Whiskey Outryder ($75)

For the father who loves the great outdoors, Wyoming Whiskey is the perfect companion.
This Bottled In Bond rye-heavy blend is a mix of high-rye bourbon and what the distillery calls an “almost rye” mashbill.
Somewhere in between being a bourbon and a rye, this intriguingly ambiguous American whiskey offers a great middle ground for likers (but maybe not lovers) of spice-heavy spirits.
Dewar’s 19 Year Old ‘The Champion’s 124th Edition’ Rye Cask Finish ($80)

Released by scotch whisky brand Dewar’s to celebrate the 124th U.S. Open, this is the ultimate gift for any dad who loves golf and whiskey (and let’s face it; that covers a whole lot of dads).
$80 isn’t cheap, but it’s frankly quite a deal for a 19-year-old bottle of whisky. This year’s “Champion’s Edition” release is finished in rye casks, which add a nice bit of spice to supplement the spirit’s peppery and fruity notes.
RD1 Spirits Bourbon Wood-Finished Flight ($80)

RD1 Spirits, a non-distilling whiskey brand based in Lexington, Kentucky, released this three-pack of 200-milliliter bottles in May. We love the 200-milliliter size — it’s not a full bottle, but it’s also not a tiny, shooter-sized bottle that only yields one or two pours. With 200 milliliters, you can really taste the spirit and come back to it a few times (or share it with friends)!
This is a brilliant idea from RD1, and we hope more brands will follow suit! The theme of RD1’s flight is bourbons finished in different casks. The set comprises three bourbons, one finished in French oak and bottled at 101 proof, one finished in amburana wood and bottled at 110 proof and the final member double finished in oak and maple barrels. That last one is bottled at 99.9 proof.
High Camp Firelight Flask ($123.20)

Buy Now
High Camp will show your father that “flask” has meanings he’s never before considered.
The Firelight Flask (normally priced at $129 but currently on sale for $103.20) is a 750-milliliter flask, meaning it’s capable of holding an entire bottle of whiskey. The flask comes with two tumblers perfect for sipping whiskey, which are easy to screw off of the flask thanks to their diamond grips and magnetic attachment.
The flasks and their tumblers are all vacuum-insulated to offer excellent temperature control.
This product is perfect for any father on the go. He can pour his whiskey (or a batched cocktail!) into the flask and bring it with him hiking, to a party or wherever he’s headed!
Alternatively, if you want to go for something a little bit smaller, consider the High Camp Torch Flask, a 6-ounce flask featuring a magnetically attached 3-ounce sake-glass-inspired shot glass. The Torch flask is normally priced at $99, but it’s on sale now for $79.20. Buy it here.
Bottle Raiders Single Barrel Club ($114.99)

For the father who loves whiskey but is tired of tasting the same ol’, same ol’. Or is tired of trying to go beyond the same ol’ but has a hard time choosing what try next. After all, there are so many options out there. And let’s face it — a lot of them are just eh. Or straight up bad.
Bottle Raiders takes the choice out of your dad’s hands by sending a full-sized bottle of rare, highly rated single-barrel whiskey each month. Even better, club members get exclusive access to a virtual tasting of each month’s whiskey — often joined by guests from the distilleries behind the whiskeys.
A one-month subscription to the Bottle Raiders Single Barrel Club is normally priced at $124.99, but if you order by Father’s Day, you can use code RAIDERS10 for a $10 discount.
15 STARS Vino de Naranja Bourbon ($139)

Read Our Review | Buy Now
Released specifically for Father’s Day, this bourbon comes from an up-and-coming brand that, fittingly enough, is owned and operated by a father-and-son duo.
15 STARS Vino de Naranja is an 8-year-old blended bourbon finished in a cask that previously contained Vino de Naranja, a sweet orange wine produced in Spain. VDN is made by macerating orange peels in white wine.
Only 316 bottles of this 102.8-proof bourbon were released, making it a rare, limited release.
This bourbon is sweet and full-bodied with plenty of lovely orange character, thanks to that finishing cask. It also delivers lots of classic dessert-forward bourbon notes, likecreamy vanilla cake, cocoa, cherries and custard. This tasty whiskey has some subtle spicy notes as well, with cinnamon, clove and cracked pepper glimmering through.
WhistlePig CampStock Solo Stove Bundle ($200)

Read Our Review | Buy Now
This is a bundle from WhistlePig Whiskey and Solo Stove, the maker of the popular smokeless fire pits. Buying this bundle nets you a co-branded product from each company: a WhistlePig Whiskey Custom Branded Solo Stove Mesa XL Tabletop Fire Pit and a bottle of Limited Edition WhistlePig CampStock Wheat Whiskey.
The whiskey is great. It’s a blend composed of mostly wheat whiskey with just enough rye whiskey in the blend that you get a little bit of spice to pepper up the soft, sweet wheat character. WhistlePig is known for being creative and wacky with its marketing and whiskeys, and this release doesn’t disappoint. WhistlePig finished the expression in Solo Stove-toasted barrels, which the brands claim gives the barrel a “precise char and toast profile.”
WhistlePig CampStock is sweet and spicy on the nose, with notes of honey, tobacco, confectioners sugar, raisin bread, cinnamon and spicy rye. Thepalate delivers more honey and cinnamon, but also toffee, butter cream, butterscotch and a pinch of clove. On the finish, this whiskey remains pleasant and balance, with sweet, toasty desserts and some spicy cinnamon and baking spice character.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to buy the full bundle, you can buy a bottle of CampStock alone for $74.99 here.
