Sippers in the Sunshine State, rejoice: a new locally distilled brand is hitting the market in a variety of unconventional flavors.
Headed up by Grant Patterson and Jesse Tate, Tampa’s Vista Gin has dedicated itself to fusing “local, traditional and exotic botanicals” with an eye for adventurous drinkers. While Patterson contributes a background in food journalism, Tate brings his expertise as a distiller who previously experimented with combining Japanese and American whiskey techniques.
The quartet of gins are now available across Florida in the following varieties:
- Salto (52% ABV): “A robust navy strength gin boasting cumin and orange peel notes.”
- Solstice (47% ABV): “An old tom gin characterized by rich, smoky overtones.”
- Soleil (45% ABV): “A refreshing blend of lemon and matcha, offering a smooth sipping experience.”
- Sakura (47% ABV): “A dry gin featuring shiso leaf and aromatic chamomile, delivering a distinctively floral profile.”
“The Vista Gin brand is about changing perspectives and embracing a fresh, modern approach to gin,” says Jesse Tate, Co-Founder & Distiller. “Our core gin line is the culmination of years of experimentation and passion, offering consumers a diverse range of flavors that embody the spirit of Tampa.”
Though gin is arguably most closely associated with the UK, Florida distillers have given the spirit a run for its money in recent years.
Brands like The Old G, 30A Distilling Co.’s Citrus Rosemary and Old St. Pete Gin have proven that a variety of styles and flavors can thrive in the American Southwest. Say goodbye to the London fog — now, it’s time for the Florida swamp.
