Gember Distillery, a craft gin producer based in Cape Town, South Africa, is gearing up for a momentous event as it prepares to challenge the Guinness World Record for “the most people drinking gin in one place,” Time Out reported Wednesday.
Scheduled for April 6, 2024, at the distillery’s premises in Muizenberg, the Cape Cheers festival promises an exciting day filled with juniper-infused spirits, cuisine from local food trucks and live performances by bands such as Sunset Sweat Shop, Natalie Rae, Ambience and Sons of Selassie.
Attendees can anticipate an immersive experience beginning at 10 a.m. when the festival gates swing open. The highlight of the day, undoubtedly, will be the official record attempt at 12 p.m., closely monitored by an international Guinness World Record judge and certified taster.
“Don’t be late,” Gember Distillery added. “For the love of gin, help us win!”
In a bid to secure their place in history, festivalgoers can purchase tickets priced at R280 (about $15) per person, which include four miniature bottles of Gember Distillery’s award-winning Two Gingers Gin for the official tasting.
