Sipsmith Gin Updates Bottle Design in Bid to Reduce Environmental Impact

English spirit brand Sipsmith Gin has recently debuted a revamped bottle design for its flagship London dry expression in a bid to reduce its environmental impact, The Grocer reported on Tuesday.

Sipsmith’s primary focus in this redesign is twofold: sustainability and aesthetic enhancement. The brand has achieved a notable reduction in environmental impact by crafting a 20% lighter bottle with a substantial 44% recycled material content.

The move also sees the elimination of the traditional wax-dipped lid, which saves seven tons of single-use plastic per year and makes the recycling process easier for consumers, Sustainable Packaging News explained.

“Since we started Sipsmith, our ethos has always been one of constant improvement,” shared Sipsmith co-founder Sam Galsworthy, per the report. “This beautiful new bottle design shows that it is possible to reduce environmental impact significantly without compromising the quality of the packaging.”

“The joy for me here is in all the details – from a more sustainable closure to some hidden gems within the design. When you hold it in your hand, it’s far easier to pour from, which will please bartenders and sippers alike. We are thrilled to get it out into the world and continue to make our gin the very best it can be.”

The new bottle design also boasts an elongated neck, adorned with a ripple pattern inspired by the Sipsmith swan motif. Moreover, the label has embedded subtle Easter eggs on the front of the packaging, offering a charming visual narrative. As The Grocer detailed, these include representations of the founder’s original delivery vehicle, a motorcycle scooter, and a scroll symbolizing the brand’s HMRC certificate for being London’s inaugural small-batch gin distillery in two centuries.

Already in motion, the rollout of this new packaging is slated for completion by 2024, encompassing the entire Sipsmith range.
